Puncture Repair
If your puncture is in the safely repairable area of the tread and the tyre is otherwise sound, a proper plug-patch repair is the right call — cheaper than a new tyre and just as safe.
- British Standard BS AU 159 plug-patch repairs
- Repaired from the inside — not just plugged
- Full inspection before we sign it off
We won't repair a tyre that shouldn't be repaired. If it's not safe, we'll say so.
The puncture repair process — step by step
Full transparency on exactly what happens from the moment you get in touch to the moment we hand back the keys.
- 1
Assessment
We remove the wheel and inspect inside and out — sidewall damage or a puncture outside the repair zone means the tyre is scrapped, no charge for the check.
- 2
Locate & clean
Object removed, injury channel cleaned and buffed to BS AU 159 standard.
- 3
Plug-patch bond
Combination mushroom plug-patch bonded from the inside — a proper permanent repair, not an external string plug.
- 4
Rebalance
Wheel rebalanced on our mobile balancer before it goes back on.
- 5
Refit & torque
Torqued to spec, pressures set, TPMS reset if fitted.

Everything included with your puncture repair
No hidden extras, no vague pricing. Here's exactly what you get, what we bring, what to have ready and what happens afterwards.
- Full wheel-off internal inspection
- Object removal and injury-channel cleaning
- BS AU 159 compliant mushroom plug-patch (bonded from inside)
- New rubber valve where needed
- Wheel rebalance after refitting
- TPMS reset if fitted
- Combination plug-patch kit (BS AU 159 approved)
- Buffing wheel and vulcanising cement
- Bead-breaker and tyre demount machine
- Dynamic wheel balancer
- The nail, screw or object if you managed to remove it (helps us judge the injury size)
- Locking wheel-nut key
- A flat area next to the car to work — driveway or parking bay is ideal
- Nail or screw in the central tread
- Slow puncture losing a few PSI a day
- Pressure warning light after driving over debris
- Tyre kept losing air after a forecourt pump-up
External string plugs are a temporary get-you-home fix — not a legal repair. A proper internal plug-patch bonded across the inner liner is what the British Standard demands, and it's what an insurance claim after an accident will expect to see. If we can save the tyre this way you avoid an unnecessary £80–£150 replacement.
- Recheck pressure after 24 hours — a slow leak from a second injury will show up quickly
- Repaired tyres are still fully warranted for the remaining tread life
Which punctures can't be repaired?+
Anything within 25 mm of the sidewall shoulder, sidewall damage, run-flats that have been driven flat, or tyres below 1.6 mm tread. If it's not safe we tell you before we start — no charge for the check.
How long does a proper repair last?+
A BS AU 159 plug-patch is designed to last the full remaining life of the tyre and is fully speed-rated.
Do I need to remove the wheel first?+
No — we remove the wheel as part of the job. That's the only way to inspect and repair from the inside properly.
